I downloaded transcend-4G-4025483264-NewIT-v1.4-debian-squeeze.img from NewIT. Flashed it onto a 8GB SD-card (to be sure of sufficient space) using USB Image Tool op a Windows PC.
Stuck it into my Sheevaplug and booted. The card is being read, but then the plug says "Kernel Panic - No init found".
I normally flash and boot my SD-cards this way, mostly with the backup image on my other plug, and it works. But the current OS is an outdated Ubuntu, time for upgrading.
Please help?

the manual you followed, is for booting from sd-card. + running the debian os on it.
the manual is to minimize the sd-cards's wearoff.

depending from where you installed the os, you should check the variables in the marvell boot-loader.

even if both devices are usb on the same slot, the sheeva bootloader must know the precise device to boot from.
fe. the filesystems may differ.

Need help to find a replacement Sheevaplug case.

Two of the screws that secure the top and bottom cover together had been way way over tightened and broke the self tapping posts in the top cover right off.  The broken tapping post would just spin with the screw and would not release from the bottom cover spacer post.  I eventually got the two halves apart but caused more damage doing so.

Anyone else had this problem opening the case?

Any ideas where I can get just the case?

I was stupid enough to remove the USB Serial Converter A and B from my Windows 10 system. When I connect the Sheevaplug to the USB port, the "New Hardware found" procedure of W10 does not start. What I see in Device Manager is "Other devices, SheevaPlug JTAGKey FT2232D B (2x). I tried to run "CDM v2.12.06 WHQL Certified.exe" and it gave the result "FTDI CDM Driver Package ready for use". Details for SheevaPlug JTAGKey FT2232D B says "no driver installed. But I can't find any driver that will install for this device. I found one that said "The non-Microsoft INF-file does no contain a digital signature" (or similar words).  Please help?

I don't see those markings on my DP.  I also have a 003-DS2001 but there's no "1001" or "0901" anywhere (that I can see.)  Can you tell me where to look?  Or can it be known by the model 003-Ds2001?

Thank you!

I have two questions regarding the 003-DS2001 that someone might know the answer to:

1) Is this a "bg' version or an "n" version?  (I guess it matters for the type of image I will use.

2) Specifically, does anyone know the most recent image (Debian is FAR preferable to Ubuntu IMO) that I can use WITHOUT a JTAG?  I never bought it and right now dont' want to spend $50 when I can get another board for $50.  But at the same time, I kind of want to do somethign wtih this Damned DreamPlug, since I have it staring at me like i'm an idiot. :)

Thank you!

Would love to see New IT selling these interesting ARM devices. It's the first SBC I've seen to use the Allwinner H3 CPU. The Orange Pi Plus is especially attractive to my specific requirements.

The only problem at the moment is that in order to buy the Orange Pi you have to go through AliExpress. Reading from the Internet, there's more than a few nightmare stories from dissatisfied customers involving AliExpress and this is what puts me off dealing with them entirely.

What the Orange Pi needs is a reliable and professional reseller for Europe and the rest of the world, such as New IT. Come on Jason (nudge, nudge. wink, wink), you know you want to. ;)
