USB powered Guruplug
« on: 23 April 2011, 06:56:01 pm »

I have connected a USB hub (powered, 5V 2A) to one of my Guruplugs and I've noticed that if I unplug the Guruplug from the wall, it will continue to run while the USB hub is connected (and powered).  I'm not sure if this is useful or not.  I have two UPS's, so I suppose I could use this to let the Guruplug have two power sources: if one fails, it will still have power from the other one, which is sort of nice, since I've experienced a blown fuse in a UPS before, which is pretty annoying since the UPS supposedly is there to ensure 100% uptime.

I wonder if it is intentional that the Guruplug can be powered through the USB port, and is it recommended?

If I disconnect the Guruplug completely, then plug in the powered USB hub, it wont start up.  I need to power it up the regular way first, then unplug it while the USB hub is connected.
