desperately seeking: ext2load
« on: 25 May 2011, 09:20:43 pm »

While trying to port Meteohub to the DreamPlug I do struggle at a very early point. Meteohub does come along on a ext2/3 formatted SD card, but uboot of DreamPlug does not have the ext2load command the original SheevaPlug does have and which is needed to give a Meteohub SD a boot.

How to intall a "ext2load" enabled uboot onto the DreamPlug? I am a bit wondering that a brand new unit like this one does not provide only a subset of uboot options the aged SheevaPlug had from the beginning.

Please help.

The instructions we've given here for booting from SD card state that the SD card kernel partition should be formatted as FAT.

Alternatively, you could load the kernel from micro-SD card and rootfs from SD card.

ok, at least you can say "I told you so" ;-)

I inserted a first small FAT partition on the SD card that holds the boot credentials (uInitrd, uImage).
That seems to work, but it is a bit ugly... as the original SheevaPlug can handle ext2load.
