[SOLVED] Smarttop and HDMI
« on: 20 July 2011, 12:57:02 pm »

Hi,

I'm trying to have running my Smarttop, I have trid it with 3 TVs, but without success.

On the first one "No valid signal" was shown, on the second one I could see Genesi logo but after that it "720p 50 ..." was shown  and a blank screen and on the second one "720p 60" was shown and a blank screen

Do I have to make something special to have my Smarttop working? is it better to use a computer TFT?

Is there any alternate method to have it working for the first time? ssh? remote access?  VNC=

Thanks!

Hi Jorge,

There is an updated version of the software due in the next few days that will include greater HDMi compatibility and a whole raft of other improvements. I will post and tweet when it becomes available.

Also I have posted an Efika version of the GuiPlug which boots from an SD card and includes the new HDMI kernel code if you want to try that.

Thanks a lot! I'm downloading now maverick-20110722.img

By the way, the Efika version of the GuiPlug .. always runs from SD card, or the SD card is only for installation?

Thanks!!

Hi Jorge,

The Guiplug port runs on the SD card.

A hardfloat Debian is now available to try.

I have reflashed Ubuntu (23-Jul version) and everything is ok now .. Thanks!!

Now I'm trying to install ssh package to have ssh access but I'm having this error (broken packages). Do I have to do somewthing special on Smarttop to work?

[email protected]:~$ sudo apt-get install ssh
Leyendo lista de paquetes... Hecho
Creando árbol de dependencias
Leyendo la información de estado... Hecho

E: Paquetes rotos

Thanks!

Jorge,

I had a similar problem.

Code: [Select]
apt-get update
followed by a reboot seemed to sort it out.

Hi,

Just to confirm that everything is OK now.

I have re-flashed the smarttop, and the first thing I have run is "apt-get update". From that moment onwards everything has gone ok.

THANKS a lot for your support!

I have written an article on Tuxinfo Magazine about Smarttop (how to use it as a complete webserver, hosting several webs and using a dynamic IP)

(Of course James appears on the ending credits due to his great support)

Tha magazine (I'm afraid it is in spanish) is published here http://www.tuxinfo.com.ar/tuxinfo/?p=546 and this is the direct link to download it: http://infosertec.loquefaltaba.com/tuxinfo40.pdf

Thanks James for your support.
