Hello People,

I'm completely new at this, and a little lost at the commands and everything in general.
Bear in mind i'm new to linux as well, bascaily i'm stupid

I have downloaded the NEWIT-Gui-Plug 16gb-15jul11-V2.6-Sheevaplug.img.gz

i have an SD card, which i have wiped. i'm working from a Linux laptop, i'm unable to use the console port.

so far i've removed the old image download the new one and i can't seem to find the correct commands to unpack and install the img.gz above on linux onto the SD card. so i'm a little lost. can anyone help or am i doing the wrong things >.< sorry to be a pain.

Try the code below to decompress and write in a single step but remember to change 'sdb' for your output device.

gzip -cdv thecompressedimage.img.gz | dd of=/dev/sdb bs=1M

yep got that bit sorted, haha this is not fun at all haha

i've just got to get around wine and the non trust programs then i'll be back i will reinstall this i WILL !!
