GuiPlug V2.7 now available
« on: 31 October 2011, 02:04:38 pm »

GuiPlug v2.7 for the Sheevaplug is available for Download and will shortly be available from the shop.

New Features for v2.7 include:

-  Hot Plugging of Usb Monitors, Usb Monitor can be removed and plugged back in anytime.
-  Kernel 3.0.7
-  Refreshed Debian Squeeze rootfs

Other changes include:
- VNC access still starts if no USB monitor is found at boot but is now moved to port 5901 to allow monitors to be hot-plugged at any time. Adding a usb-monitor will not disrupt VNC access.

Imo Monster 10" can be powered directly from the Usb port.
Imo Pivot, Mimo Touch2 will require a powered USB hub & Mimo 720s/f may require a powered hub.

Here is the best way to decompress the image to your SD card.(change the sdx to your device)
Code: [Select]
gzip -cdv NewIT-GuiPlug-v2.7-4Gb-29oct11-Sheevaplug.img.gz | dd of=/dev/sdx bs=8192
If it does not complete without errors the SD card is probably too small.
I would thoroughly recommend the 'Integral Endurance' SD cards for their Performance and longevity.

(If anyone thinks they have a faster SD card I would love to hear from them.)

If it's a multiboot or configured to boot from the SD card it will work.

Thanks,

It's working nicely, booting from the SD card.

I was hoping to use it with a small (10 lumen) VGA LED projector attached to the USB. The projector is an unbranded one bought from Maplin. Powering the projector is not a problem, but I am struggling with the drivers to make it work (when attached to my Sheevaplug it shows up as a flash drive containing a Windows installer).

I've Googled and and found something about editing xorg.conf but I am not sure how to apply this and I don't think it applies to the Sheevaplug.

Can anyone offer me any simple advice? (My bets are on "Give up, you've no chance!")

Do you have a make/model and the output from 'lsusb'  would be good.

Hi,
No branding at all, on the device or the box. In windows you have to run the supplied "EZ Display" software for it to project the display.

On my Sheeva typing lsusb gives:

[email protected]:~# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 1de1:1101
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

If you want to boot from eSata you will need a kernel compiled with

CONFIG_SATA_MV=y

Here is the GuiPlug v2.7 kernel source or compile a kernel from sheeva.with-linux.com

http://www.downloadsnewit.co.uk/kernel-v3.0.7/

There is some additional info here:

I successfully compiled the kernel and I join a link to download the uImage file (the file is too large to be put in attachment):
