Uninterruptible Power Supplies
« on: 03 May 2013, 02:15:17 pm »

Has anyone had any experience in backing IT equipment up via a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)? I'm attempting to provide power protection to my small network of 3 computers and really don't know where to start.

We've been running our home network off a Trust unit we got from Maplin about four years ago and it has saved us a great deal of lost work! It's advisable to run the lead-acid cells flat every few months to keep them in good condition. It was just a case of plugging the unit in out of the box. There is a USB link which can send warnings to things to shut down if the mains fails but we have never used it.
Best regards
