Sheevaplug Debian 6 squeeze(updating the kernel to 3.9)
« on: 05 May 2013, 08:13:53 pm »

So I followed :http://www.cyrius.com/debian/kirkwood/sheevaplug/ and succesfully installed debian 6 squeeze on a sheevaplug.
I need debian 6 to be kernel 3.4 or higher. So I went for 3.9.

I went kernel.org and followed :http://www.howtoforge.com/kernel_compilation_debian
However, I get error 127 or some other type of error. Is there uimage and unitrd that already has a 3.4 or greater kernel?

Help me!

The SD images are here:
http://downloadsnewit.co.uk/SD-images/Sheevaplug/all
but I don't know how to find out what kernel is in them.

If you download an image you can access the partitions inside it:
The command you need is:
sudo mount -o loop,owner,offset=START FILE /mnt/tmp

START is the offset in bytes to where the partition you want starts, usually 63*512; FILE is your image; /mnt/tmp must exist.
