Hi all,
I am (obviously) the author of
Sakis3G script. Sakis3G is an all-in-one small-footprint (200KB) alternative for establishing 3G connections (CDMA not yet supported, so not suitable for U.S.), which can be essentially useful on GuruPlug (which also lacks usual NetworkManager/Modemmanager bundle). Sakis3G also embeds Usb-ModeSwitch (latest version), which is required, still not available on Lenny repositories.
I've published a step-by-step guide on how to turn your GuruPlug into a router for sharing 3G internet connection,
with no other intervention than just plugging USB modem, using Sakis3G script (video demonstrating final result is
available on YouTube).
All Sakis3G dependencies are satisfied by pre-installed Lenny packages.
You need to install nothing more.
Guide is
available there.
- Guide may initially look huge, but this is to reduce skill required for going through it. Experienced users are expected to be finished within 15-20 minutes.
- Guide provides instructions against manufacturer-supplied Lenny distribution. If you are using another one distribution, you have to adapt steps yourself.
Those who face a problem, can get support:
# sakis3g man
# sakis3g man sakis3g.conf
Those who's operator is not found within
list of known operators, may ask for advice on required arguments
on this board.
