Firstly may I say hello and apolgise as I realise this is the NewIt forum but was advised to join here in the hope of solving a few problems I am facing.

I have a Globalscale Sheevaplug which I believe has Version 9.04, aka Jaunty Jackalope on board currently which I'm led to believe is a relatively old piece of software. I bought the plug to hopefully install Logitech Media Server on to save electricity and also save having to run a laptop or desktop which is what I usually have to run LMS on at the moment.
I have read the Squeezeplug wiki from back to front many times and have let it sink in, downloaded all the things needed to install LMS on the plug but have one big issue that I cannot resolve and is proving to be a real big headache which is updating the U-Boot , I have puttied into the plug to check the U-Boot And it is in need of upgrade to 3.4.27 (currently on 3.4.16 U-Boot which apparently won't work according to the Wiki).
I have downloaded and copied the .bin file to a USB fat formatted stick but it won't install whatever I try to do.

I have attempted this to no joy after pressing return a few times to enter the Marvell>> area.

Marvell>> usb start
Marvell>> fatload usb 0:1 0x0800000 uboot-3.4.27.bin
Marvell>> nand erase 0x0 0xa0000
Marvell>> nand write 0x0800000 0x0 0xa0000


Marvell>> reset

This just  comes up with no fat load which as a newbie I have no clue as to meaning, any help to get me over this hurdle will be appreciated immensely

If you plug the USB into a Linux system and mount it what does the output from:
ls -l
fdisk -l
give?

Have also tried to install the other version of U-boot  ( U-boot.kwb ) and get a bit further with the following results??


I'm attempting to load the u-boot.kwb file to update my sheevaplug

Typed in as follows with result

That's exactly as it occurs on screen?, could you help please?

Could anyone explain what the problem is , I downloaded the U-boot from here

It's not happy with your USB stick. Try reformatting it & load the files again
You can also do, from the Marvell prompt
fatls usb 0
And see what is on the stick

Taking an age to do anything but I live in hope , thanks for the advice will report if it finds anything with this command.

Has finally came back with the following

I'd there any way to load the u-boot file after the operating system has full loaded? Ie, after Debian Login ?

what is doing at the moment is plugging in the power to the Sheeva , quickly loading putty then hitting "return" a few times until the Marvell>> line shows! can I ask when the Marvell>> is present are you at the U Boot area?.

Hello and once again thanks I have followed the above and cannot get any further than the below , it won't access the card

Can I ask the card I have is an 8gb Sandisk and an 8 gb Integral, are these to large for the USB slot on a sheeva plug?, I noticed yours was only 250mb??.

Also the only thing I copied onto the drive after formatting it to Fat32 is the 460kb u-boot.bin file ?, are you supposed to copy other files onto the card as well as this bin file please?

Put the USB into the Sheeva and then press the reset button or unplug power & reconnect.
Mine gave the same output as  yours until I reset

Then I placed USB drive in slot and did this as you mentioned

Looks like you did a soft-reset, try a hard-reset, disconnect the mains/power cable and try again

My USB card only has one file on it U-Boot 3.4.27.bin?, I notice that yours has all manner of files on it, does mine need them to do a u boot upgrade please?.

I tried the hard reset as you kindly suggested and exactly the same thing happened as when I did the soft reset??, why can't anything be easy?, I thought it would be difficult but this seems mind boggling to me, should it be easy to do?.

Your card has lots of things on it as below are they needed for u boot? As I don't have them??

The number of files doesn't matter, I just put more files on the USB to give something to look at when i do a fatls
